
Overview
New Orleans is a beautiful collection of 73 distinct neighborhoods with their own history and traditions. This grant is an opportunity to celebrate the Tricentennial in a manner unique to your neighborhood with an event or project.
Project parameters
The awarded grant is to be used for one or more of the following:
- A neighborhood celebration of the Tricentennial
- A collaborative neighborhood beautification or quality of life project commemorating the Tricentennial
- A capacity building project for youth (17 years of age and under)
- A Tricentennial outreach project for the organization
The project or celebration must take place within Orleans Parish
Applicant eligibility
Applicant must meet each of the following criteria:
- Be a member of any formal or informal neighborhood/community association
- Resident of Orleans Parish
- 18 years of age or older
- 501(c)3 designation (for formal associations) or Federal tax ID number (for informal association)
Time table
- Announcement date: Saturday, December 2nd, 2017 at the Neighborhood Summit
- Application period: Monday, December 4th – Friday, January 19th (7 weeks)
- Application deadline: Friday, January 19th, 2018 by 5pm
- Grantees notified: Monday, January 29th, 2018
- Project period: Monday, January 29th – Wednesday, October 31st, 2018
Successful grant applications
Successful applications should include the following elements:
- Realistic project goals and budget (What will you do and how much will it cost?)
- A plan for obtaining supplies (How will you get what you need?)
- A plan for requesting additional assistance from the other residents of the neighborhood (How will you ask for help and whom will you ask?)
- An outreach and communication plan (How will you get the word out?)
